Thats a good question.  Answer:  Time and Skills.

You're a gifted film maker.  Do you want to spend your time dicking around making a website, promotional materials, trying to figure out intellectual property and licensing rights, cranking out material on various social media sites, purchasing stocks of DVDs - or worse - burning your own, figuring out how to get in big box stores, and sending out screeners to get reviews?  If so, why bother making films, start a distribution company.

Again, you're a film maker.  You're no doubt creative.  However, look at our product here.  Does your website look as good?  Does your DVD cover art look as good as that of our graphic designers?  It very well may, but we do have professionals on staff for these kinds of things if it doesnt, or you know, your time could be spent filming instead.

You can spend the time getting your product on Amazon using something like Createspace.  What kind of return are you getting in the end on that DVD sold or film streamed?  Let us know.  I bet BFC can beat it.
